Originally from France, I have lived and worked in Scotland for over 30 years. I am an academic and in my spare time I hillwalk, run and ski. I am a good example of what it is like to age in sport! I have been involved with the British Science Festival for several years - primarily to promote the discipline of Sociology and show it can help us think of important societal issues in different and challenging ways.
I have 20 years' experience of teaching Sociology to undergraduate students and conducting research in the broad area of ageing. As a sociologist I approach issues of ageing from a cultural perspective to explore what it means to become and be older in contemporary society. I have sought to elucidate this by focusing on sport and physical activity. I am an experienced speaker.
