Explosives: The Past, Present and Future

A Yorkshire Philosophical Society Lecture by Profesesor Jackie Akhavan, Head of the Centre for Defence Chemistry, Cranfield University. This talk will explain the various types of explosions and the conditions under which a chemical reaction becomes an explosive, and will look at the explosive mixtures of the past, today's molecular explosives, and research currently being done into explosives for the future.
