I'm a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Birmingham where I research the role of viruses in cancer. My particular project looks into how a common virus called Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) helps infected cells to cheat death and therefore contributes to the survival of cells in EBV-positive cancers. I am also an ambassador for the Ask For Evidence campaign run by Sense About Science which aims to put scientific evidence in the hands of the public, where it belongs!
I give regular talks and presentations on behalf of CRUK and the charity Sense About Science in my role as an Ask For Evidence (A4E) ambassador as well as taking part in general science outreach including: - talks to science students about evaluating evidence and communicating science - talks for general public on cancer, viruses, Ask For Evidence - workshops, demos, lab tours on cancer, viruses, Ask For Evidence - schools work - Big Bang Fair, I'm a Scientist Get Me Out Of Here
