Description: Whale of a Time Workshop
We'd like to offer you our specialist services for public events. The Whale of a Time Workshop is an attraction that can be hired for shows, exhibitions, festivals, museums, schools and youth clubs. The Whale of a Time Workshop is an attraction that is typically aimed at kids and families.
The Whale of a Time Workshop is a unique opportunity for people of all age groups where participants engage creatively and in a fun way with healthy living, today’s environmental issues or simply exploring creativity. During the workshop people use their imagination and express themselves artistically by making realistic and fantasy clay models. Relating to the themes these could be a model of the human body, animals, plant species and ecosystems of different places in the world. The aim is to learn about our relationship with our environment, sustainability and healthy living in a fun and creative way.
We offer custom designed workshops with themes adapted according to your specific needs. You can chose from 4 categories: Environment, Geography, Healthy Living and Creativity. The themes can be adapted according to your requirements and your unique themes can be conceptualised.
Environment & Geography
The themes of Environment aim to bring us closer to our roots in nature. During a typical workshop participants engage with environmental issues of different geographic places around the world to learn consciously about ecosystems, biodiversity, endangered species and sustainability. We would go on to look at the effects on our planet, our health and how we can contribute to solving these problems. Example: Wild Africa, Rainforest, Ocean etc.
Healthy Living
The themes of Healthy Living aim to connect us with our awareness to our mind, body and soul. We learn about anatomy of the human body by sculpting a model in clay, go on a nature trail watching out for healing herbs, or do some meditation and yoga for energy flow and connection to all living beings. Example: Human Body Sculpting
Creativity
The Creativity themes help us explore our world of imagination as well as the real world while developing creative skills and sensitivity. We would do this by using the sense of touching and shaping clay, casting simple objects, e.g. fruits in plaster, as well as listening to sound while creating masterpieces of art. We also offer a portrait-sculpting workshop teaching the same techniques as Madame Tussauds to create a likeness of our faces. There are infinite possibilities. Example: Fantasy World
Learning Creatively through Exploration
The workshop skill-base is based on basic modelling techniques where people learn how to use sculpting tools and explore through experimentation. People work from imagination and reference materials including wildlife photographs, anatomy drawings, wildlife films and sounds (where electricity and technology is available) to create their unique clay models.
Flexible & Mobile
The Whale of a Time Workshop is flexible, mobile, easily adaptable and can be hired as an attraction for your family area at your event, indoors and outdoors. You can choose between half day and full day workshops. There is a special discount for workshops lasting more than one day.
Small & Large Groups
At shows, exhibitions and festivals we usually cover large groups - up to 500 visitors per day. During the workshop people get the opportunity to wander in and get creative having a whale of a time. We also cover small groups – up to 30 people. The programme can be adapted according to your needs.
Whale of a Time Gallery
We set up the Whale of a Time Gallery during your event where all the masterpieces are exhibited. After the event is finished the models will be displayed at the Whale of a Time Gallery online.
