Reviews:
- Mike Jozefiak - "Grace's talk about the secret WW2 war rooms deep in the Reigate chalk hills, was clear, articulate and very well put together. Accompanied by wartime maps showing Winston Churchill's bunker layouts, photographs showing some of the surrounding views of old bunker entries, together with anecdotal evidence from the daughter of the policeman guarding the gate to Churchill's house, Grace's talk made a wonderfully entertaining evening for everyone, old and young.
To add icing on the cake of phage therapy, on which Grace briefly touched, in the audience was the lady whose life was saved in 1929, probably by a phage preparation administered by a pioneering surgeon who was later appointed by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II."
A most entertaining evening, even for non-Reigations!"
- Barrie Singleton - Grace Filby's talk, on January 30th 2010, was a revelation regarding the strategic defence and communications role of the Reigate area in WW2.
The talk spanned a wide variety of science and engineering disciplines, in a lively, light and entertaining way, including metal corrosion, the ENIGMA code machine, interpretation of aerial photographs, local geology, WW2 medicine, ventilation, mining and dynamite. I can highly recommended Grace Filby as a speaker; she holds her audience with a delightful mix of content and personality. I look forward to owning a copy of the DVD.
